This game has blown me away, Im 10 hours in and Im just impressed how unique this game feels in the current era

Gameplay is perfect, the traversal is really cool with dashing and floating, combat is amazing and no its not repetitive at all, as you continue you unlock more skills and abilities which you can do combos with

The mobs variety is great, there are so many different enemies at once, so you cant just button mash through them

The gravity bending is really cool and it adds layers to the gameplay

Story so far is intriguing and you will get hooked quickly, Dylan is so far a good character, hes not boring and hes not talking all the time, only when you find something or you talk to someone

Theres like one thing I can nitpick and thats the bosses, only faced 3 so far and 2 of them I didnt enjoy, one was actually amazing, but the other 2 were quite annoying to fight

Back when I had endless free time, beating everything on "Nightmare" or "Hardcore" felt like a badge of honor. Nowadays, after a full work day, bullet-sponge enemies and repeating the same checkpoint fifteen times just feels like wasted time. Switching to "Normal" or even "Story Mode" made gaming genuinely relaxing again. Did your difficulty preference drop as you got older?

Hi, I don't know if this is the right sub to ask in, but I really don't know where else I could.

My father absolutely hates video games; he considers them practically the worst thing in the world.

My parents got divorced, and I went to live with my father.

He has strictly forbidden me from bringing any gaming devices (I own a Nintendo Switch and a gaming PC); the only device I have for “gaming” is my mobile phone.

I love video games; they were a part of my childhood and have been a passion of mine since I was little.

I tried talking to him about it, and he flew into a rage, accusing me of wanting to do nothing all day long (for context, I’m 19 and actively looking for a job).

Is anyone else in the same situation? If so, can you give me some advice on what to do?

As a kid I had no trouble creating storylines and characters in my head when immersing myself in a videogame (especially more open rpg's etc), it seems that getting older has atrophied my imagination/ability to get immersed.

Have you noticed the same thing happening or have you always been able to roleplay no problem? Have you found a way to get back some of that old magic?

I used to love clearing every single question mark on an endless map as a teenager. Nowadays, seeing an UI cluttered with hundreds of icons, fetch quests, and artificial level-gating triggers instant mental exhaustion before I even finish the prologue. I find myself craving focused, tightly crafted 12-to-15 hour linear games instead. Did your gaming taste naturally shift towards shorter experiences as you got older, or do you still prefer massive sandboxes?

Don’t get me wrong…2026 has been great, and I still have a few games this year I’m excited to play, but my GOD, 2027 looks so SO GOOD TO ME RIGHT NOW!

I don’t think I’ve had a year that was so geared towards me since 2023 ….. It’s just a list of so many games in franchisees that I absolutely love coming out around the same time?! I absolutely love it!

And even more exciting?! These are just the games that were announced! We can only imagine all the cool games we don’t even know about yet….like maybe intergalactic releases this year!

Is anyone else ready for 2026 to be over so we can get the 2027?

I just absolutely love the atmosphere in the games (and manga) and I want to find more games like them. I’m looking for recs with a sort of post-apocalyptic industrial mega-building kinda vibe. Not sure how else to describe it.

Finally gained the means to game again due to life circumstances,

I was so excited to finally play battlefield 6 but just didn’t feel it.

mw4 beta was “okay” at best.

borderlands 4 was dry in the sense that none of the characters felt meaningful compared to previous games.

I don’t understand what’s going on, I can’t find the spark or dopamine that sucks me in, every new game feels empty / soulless.

I still love gaming but I feel “stuck” like I cannot find a game I can sink hours into, still waiting for GTA6 and praying that it consumes me like gta5 -gta online did.

Anyone else that feels and or has felt like this, what games drew you back in or what did you do to make gaming feel fulfilling again.

You finally watch the credits roll, shut down the system, and just sit in silence. For the next two or three weeks, booting up anything else feels completely hollow and boring because you're still mentally stuck living inside that world. Which game hit you with that feeling the hardest?

Hey all, hope you had a good week end!

Been playing Control a lot recently that was on my shelf for a while. And it's so so so good! Probably my second favorite Remedy game right after the og Max Payne...and yet I wish so bad that it'd been a horror game!

The lore is super fun to piece together, it's weird, it's SCP eldritch horror but with great characters too. I love it...and I wish it existed in a less action oriented game. And at the same time, the gameplay is fun and challenging, and it's visually pretty bombastic with everything flying around and exploding with the powers, it's just a joy to play.

Very weird feelings to have simultaneously.

And it reminded me of Bioshock, again a game I adore, and one I finished about 10 times since its release, always enjoying it thouroughly. Yet I never shook the feeling that I'd love for it to be more immersive sim than FPS with powers.

Do you have any games that make you feel like that?

Not just talking about universally praised titans like Skyrim or Halo, but games where the music completely outclassed the actual gameplay or turned a mediocre project into a memorable experience. Which composer went entirely above and beyond what the project actually required?
