The first time I played, I didn't realize the conversation with Reed is the end of the game, so I kept negotiating with him and he took So Mi and Johnny comes out and calls me a sellout and I was like wait, that was the end??? And I reloaded the save to send her to the moon.

The ending for SOMA hit me hard. The thought that I found myself pondering over for a long time is similar to the question in The Prestige; if you knew what was going to happen when you stepped into the machine and didn't know which side you would end up on, would you still do it?

Just Simon and Catherine yelling at each other only for the machine to overload and he is just left in the darkness of the ocean. Just the thought makes me shudder, especially since they were DEEP in the ocean.

Some people maintain a ludicrous idea of the two Simons meeting up (provided you didn't kill the other Simon) but that's ignoring that you needed Catherine to open the doors and there would be no chance of a return journey across the abyssal plain anyway.

Last of us one and two r my favorite games, replayed them both atleast 5 times each and just bought it again on pc for 30$. For me atleast there is no other game like it. Yea red dead 2 is up there but it just doesn’t hit the same. Seeing Joel get his head caved in an hour into the second made me so upset that I had to take a month break lol

The opening and final scene of MGS 4 are just so fucking good. Love the opening to Ground Zeroes too. Hearing Heres to you (song during the credits of MGS4) playing from the cassette they gave Chico in his cell while XOF ride to the helicopter with the perfect narration. Then when you hear the cassette they gave to Chico during your mission you hear Paz screams and cries over the song cause she’s being tortured… MGS is so good

I'm kind of split on whether they should have saved more of the Reaper revelation for the ending confrontation though? Imagine going into the credits with that Sovereign lore bomb still fresh.

This one still stings extra for me: back then, I was in an abusive relationship. She belittled me, humiliated me, and constantly mocked me for my love for gaming. What little time I was allowed - yes, allowed - I spent playing that game.
The ending had such a profound impact on me, and all I wanted to do was muze about it. Instead, she shut me down, laughed at me for being an “adult” who’s enthusiastic about a dumb game.

Death stranding but i was probably just exhausted because i really needed to poop but the end just wouldnt end and i couldnt pause it.
Otherwise, metal gear solid 3. Played the whole game in one sitting, through the night. Finished it and a cold wind came in and it started to rain outside.

I chose Maelle. I felt like it was the wrong choice, but morbid curiosity won. Definitely felt like the wrong choice after seeing it, but I suspect the Verso ending is wrong too without having seen it.

Both endings are bittersweet. Regardless of who is playing, neither ending gives anyone everything that they want. On purpose, of course. I will say that the bitter and sweet aspects of Maelle's ending do hit with separate, swift punches whereas in Verso's the bittersweet feels all blended together.

The OG Mass Effect on the Xbox360. I spent 60-ish hours with the crew, going from mission to mission, saving people, building camaraderie, and I got into the final fight with Saren and it looks like it all went to shit...
Then that MP4 song from the Faunts starts playing my Sheppard crawls out of the rubble. I had no clue there was ever going to be a sequel.
Just had to sit and take it all in. I sat there listened/watched the whole credits.

Not stupid at all. A few years ago I noticed in my life that I was creating a habit of starting something and never finishing anything so I decided to make an effort and start with something I felt was easy to make a change with and that was video games. I decided I am not going to move onto a different game until I finish what I am currently playing or I decide I really really dont like the game so Im ok dropping it. You rightfully so should be really proud of yourself.

Mine was actually not the ending, I had tricked myself.
I was playing the first Red Dead Redemption, and I got to the part where he gets a farm and it looks like he's going to have a normal, happy life. It went on JUST long enough that I thought it was, in fact, the most unique ending I had ever seen in a game. One where they don't even tell you it's over, your character just gets to live out his days contentedly. I played for a little bit, and then just kind of sat there in satisfied silence before turning off the game and never looking back.
Years later, I found out I was actually about 20 minutes away from the real, sadder ending, and that I had duped myself in giving a happy ending to what was meant to be a tragic game.

If a game really connects, engrosses or entertains me enough, I will make a point of sitting through the credits, if the game was that good to me, the least I can do is sit and acknowledge the names of the people who worked on it.

Guild Wars 2. We all agreed to save the final dungeon so we could do it together. When we finally got to it, we breezed through it. This was before the living story and the expansion packs and everything. I remember sitting there after we completed it, just staring at the blank screen.
God, I miss when times were a little simpler.
