The fact that all of thier 2026 games are also above 85 on metacritic is insane.

A shame that that didn’t translate into sales for Monster Hunter Stories 3. That game desperately needs more content that it definitely won’t get now.

Capcom has had an amazing resurgence this year. Congrats on their success!

It's definitely coming. Prob 2028 at the earliest, but could come much later than that.

2028/2029 seem like realistic years. When Hideki Kamiya left PlatinumGames he was required to sign a NDA/Non-Compete contract and stay out of the video games industry for a year. Unless the work was started early by Koyama the game likely started production in late 2024.

This is a valid point and makes total sense.

Probably by The Game Awards this year or Summer Games Fest next year. If none of those then maybe Gamescom/Tokyo Games Show/The Game Awards 2027.

All we know is that Kamiya is working on it as the director and nothing more.

Atleast we know that its in development but prob a ways off

Capcom resurgence needs to be studied by all publishers and Devolopers, they were pretty much bankrupted in the mid 2010s after a series of flops.

They must have insanely good understanding of their in-house engine. Outside of a few blemishes they've had insane quality since about RE7, I think it's about the same time they started using the re-engine.

2

u/CasperGwamm 4h ago

Seems like they learned lessons from their Crapcom era.

2

u/GheDZ06 4h ago

Isnt that the time when they released re6?

9

u/ZEKE307 5h ago

yall think they got one more 2027 game in the bag?

7

u/akbarock 5h ago edited 5h ago

Its still early they might have 2 more in the bag tbh, might even see one of them announced at The Game Awards

DMC and AA7 Cope

1

u/8_Alex_0 5h ago

Imagine believing they care about dmc lmao 🤣

1

u/Humble-Departure5481 2h ago

And why do you hate DMC?

0

u/8_Alex_0 1h ago

Resident evil is better than dmc

1

u/Humble-Departure5481 1h ago

I like both of them, but some of the REs have been absolute ass like RE5 and RE6, for example.

1

u/Icywind014 3m ago

DMC2 and DmC.

u/Shiro2602 5h ago

Possible Dragons Dogma 2 Dark Arisen wasn't shown until halfway through this year

2

u/SolemnDemise 4h ago

If you believe in magic, Okami 2 in Q4 2027. If you're a realist that game doesn't come out until q3 2028.

Dino Crisis Remake hopium

u/TrickNatural 4h ago

Ayooo. Dudes be like "stop wanking Capcom" like dude look at this, they deserve the praise. Theres nothing wrong with being positive and acknowledging when a company is on a roll, what with all these anti-consumer practices going on is nice to see when someone cares about their products.

re veronica 😍😍😍

u/OverdoseDeBits 5h ago

2026 was great, but 2027 already looks even better.

DMC & Dino Crisis waiting in line... Any year now.

To me they are the dev of the decade. Really since 2017 they’ve stepped up but the 2020s I don’t think anyone else really comes close when you factor in the sheer quantity with consistent great to amazing titles. Even their misses like DD2 and MHWi are still really good games with some weird design choices and have actively gotten better since release. I also really love that they are still experimental. Kunitsu Gami is a supremely underrated title from them that deserves a lot more love. Totally unique in its presentation and gameplay systems and for them it was just an experimental side game.

1

u/Legitimate_Cycle_651 2h ago

no franchise has been good as resident evil since re7 (with re3 remake being a little speed bump) not only they constantly delivered without long development time yet they never lost from quality like yearly releases they have been working like a well oiled machine

1

u/TheGoodIdiot 1h ago

But I also appreciate that they didn’t let that dictate the whole companies direction. Some companies have doubled down and make games that all feel like they are built on the same framework but Capcom still feels experimental. Onimusha has one of the tightest and most thoughtful combat designs I’ve ever played. Pragmata is a fusion of puzzle and action third person shooter. Kunitsu Gami is a tower defense here game. Dragons dogma is a unique and weird take on the western rpg genre. They hit big on resident evil and monster hunter and continued to grow and use that success as an excuse to revive old series, experiment with fresh ideas, and continue to make great games.

Japan just does it better

6

u/FoxinShards 5h ago

I wonder if their teams are ever overworked or have to crunch. I know Japan as a whole is severely overworked.

8

u/Gekidami 5h ago

Not really? Nearly all of the Japanese games at the last State of Play were the most cookie-cutter, generic-looking JRPGs you can imagine. You could barely tell them apart. The Korean & Chinese games stood out way more.

Capcom stands out because they make games aimed more at Western audiences. Actual Japanese-focused games are boring gatchas or by-the-numbers JRPGs.

Capcom stands out because they make games aimed more at Western audiences. Actual Japanese-focused games are boring gatcha or by-the-numbers JRPGs.

Having your own tastes is completely valid, but saying that Japanese games have to aim at western audiences to stand out just sounds naive at best, and ignorant at worst.

5

u/akbarock 5h ago

This is true Western devs take 5-10 years to put out one game while Fromsoft, Capcom, Sega etc put something out every year

5

u/PoggersMemesReturns 5h ago

Konami lately too. And technically not sure if it's fair to count Nintendo.

5

u/BlastMyLoad 5h ago

Konami’s games are all outsourced often to western devs

2

u/Lostboxoangst 4h ago

You might want to look into Dev wages in Japan . Honestly eye opening. wage slave definition

0

u/Zedrane 4h ago

That only explains why American games cost more, not why they're garbage.

1

u/PrimaLegion 1h ago

Yeah I just would not go this far at all. This's a wild thing to say given the working conditions there.

0

u/GyrosSnazzyJazzBand 4h ago

Efficient with multiple game devs that know what they're doing

2

u/fantasyBilly 4h ago

Yeah, monster hunter wilds.

2

u/xslbccdks_coded 4h ago

did you mean they output so WILD that they ASCEND

2

u/Elegant_Promotion141 4h ago

They Are killing it lately

2

u/FaceTimePolice 4h ago

They know what’s up. 😎👍

2

u/Schmenza 4h ago

We getting Resident Evil almost every year now. It's Madden for people who like being scared

2

u/Fooby56 4h ago

Hell you could stretch this back to when they put our Resident Evil 7. They've had a hell of a run over the past few years. Really makes you wonder wtf all these other companies are doing with those massive budgets!

2

u/Blackgloves023 3h ago

Capcom is putting the whole game community on notice. Other studios are barely pumping out 1 game every 3 years while these guys just pumped 8 within 2 years..

2

u/FallenLucifer_2077 4h ago

Better than 7 years per game

1

u/DL2546 4h ago

I got a feeling we are gonna get a reveal of another game from them at the game awards but I could be wrong will see

1

u/Quirky-Employer9717 4h ago

higher output than all of Sony

1

u/OMGlenn 4h ago

Sooooooo New Breath Of Fire, when? MegaMan Legends 3 any day now.

1

u/bala_means_bullet 4h ago

Did Capcom do something internally or they just happened to just line up all their bangers recently

1

u/Lhyster 4h ago

And they also ported all their games (nearly) on Switch 2 by the same time. Maybe they outsourced it but it looks great either way.

1

u/P-A-Lily 3h ago

Capcom's been on a helluva upswing these past few years.

1

u/Vast_Attitude5540 1h ago

Would really love a noclip series on Capcom and the RE engine

1

u/PMC-I3181OS387l5 1h ago

That's also without counting support from previous games, like Street Fighter 6 receiving its 4th season pass... and counting :O

Yeah, Capcom stated how they would like to support the game for 10 years!

1

u/NotXesa 33m ago

The day they learn how to put a game in a cartridge I'll cry.

1

u/InvincibleMirage 21m ago

All the Street Fighter 6 updates and new characters too.

-1

u/-Aone 4h ago

insane. 2 games in 2026 and 1 in 27.

-1

u/CacheConqueror 3h ago

Dragons dogma 2 is bad unfortunately

0

u/Upstairs-Event-681 2h ago

It’s honestly insane, only a well oiled machine can output this many great games one after the other.

It honestly concerns me, I cannot shake off the feeling that they’re using too much bandwidth. It feels like either they’re crunching and getting all these games out, or the other studios are lazy and gave us the false feeling that you need 10 years to build a game

-2

u/Aeromatik 3h ago

Quantity over Quality

2

u/PianoAlternative5920 2h ago

You need to go outside and inhale some grass for having such a mindset.

1

u/Glittering-Grape8767 33m ago

Pragmata and especially Requiem were really fucking good, were they not?

0

u/Alastor3 2h ago

expect they bring quality too lol

0

u/ElecXeron20XX 2h ago

2026 you forgot Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection.
