Being a fan of a team as consistently dogshit as the jets has renewed my perspective as a fan, in that I genuinely feel no hope for this team. However, Glenn has surprised me in that he seems to have put together a team and a staff that's at least somewhat competent(through 3 games). His clock management is clearly the biggest issue right now, but it's better to have that as an Achilles heel than bad scheme/play calling, bad leadership, or bad staffing decisions(which are ultimately Mougey's decisions but I would imagine Glenn has a sizable influence). Additionally, clock management seems like the easiest thing for a coach to improve at as opposed to anything I mentioned previously so even as painful as the end of the packers game was, if Glenn is capable of learning I would expect this to improve.

The offense is 20th in scoring, 15th in yards, 13 in passing, and 17th in rushing. The defense is 11th in scoring and 2nd in yards allowed. For reference, last year our scoring offense was 29th, and scoring defenses was 31st. These are already massive improvements and hopefully they can hold throughout the season.

Additionally, Sadiq and Bailey look fucking good. Ponds was active yesterday but didnt play in his first NFL game since suffering a calf injury on the first day of camp and hopefully Cooper returns from his high ankle sprain and shows something down the stretch this season, but if those 2 can be solid for us we'll have a damn good rookie class too. I didnt even mention Mitchell either, who is a servicable WR2 that compliments GWs skillset very well and certianly hasnt hit his ceiling for his level of talent or the fact that we have 3 first round picks next year, all 3 of which look to be in the 6-16 range by seasons end. If we can hold this pace and win like 7 or 8 games with an offense that can move the ball, an average-above average defense and a locker room behind the HC, i would find it very hard to justify firing Glenn even if clock management issues persist.

Is anyone else pleasantly surprised by Dane Belton? I don't know what the advanced metrics are saying about his performance, but he seems to be flying around out there making great tackles, and I can't recall any terrible coverage mistakes. I would be happy to sign him long term, and dare I say we may have a sneaky good safety duo when Minkah returns.

Geno has been really solid so far this season. Hes hardly got anyone to throw it too as our recievers are just getting demolished, but hes been very accurate with his throws. Very nice to not have to worry about that aspect of our team

I think it needs to be pointed out that the Jets got a better deal for McCarthy than the Vikings.

The Vikings gave up the No. 11 pick, a fourth-round pick (No. 129) and a fifth-round pick (No. 157) to get No. 10 and a seventh-round selection (No. 203) from the Jets, who used the 11th pick on Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu.

Jets got a 4th and a 5th to move back one and gave up a 7th.

Where is this dude? Is he seriously that bad that he didn’t win even a backup role? He was great last season and has a ton of picks his name. Why isn’t he playing? Is he hurt? I haven’t seen or found anything about him recently

We are currently only paying $3.3M on a one year contract; Raiders are eating the majority as a $16.2M bonus.

This assumes play does not fall off a cliff and we want to retain him; ideally for a rookie drafted in Round 1 to sit behind for a year.

My guess is it will be a two year contract with an option after year one in the $24M range. Thoughts?
