I'm just astonished how many people my age and younger are apparently falling to pieces like popsicle stick skeletons and I feel fine.

Is it genetics? Or some people never exercised or ate well and they became like grandpas at 30?

I have yet to earnestly grunt getting off the couch.

Can I brag about this or am I supposed to pretend I relate and act like it's normal you're all on some fast track to the grave?

Does anyone else find it weird with newer shows or movies having new age stuff?.... I'm watching La Brea and the keep bringing up social media like Twitter and whatnot it just feels weird haha

I'm on the younger end of millennials,(31) but even for me movies have taken a hard leaning into it which I get $

Now that the past-knee length athletic shorts of our '90s are no longer in style and shorter shorts with tighter waistbands are in, combined with now wearing looser boxer briefs instead of compression boxers these days, any other guys switch from pulling the front of your shorts down to pee to pulling up a shorts leg and dangling out from the bottom to go? (At your home toilet, not like at public urinals)

It's so much easier and more comfortable now to flop out from the bottom than the top thanks to shorter shorts, especially with waist bands now being tighter. Realized this the other year and now can't go back.

I dunno, give it a try! Lol

Edit: I'm not talking like tiny 4" inseam shorts, I ain't got the definition/muscle in my quads, lol. I'm talking like 8" inseam instead of our 2ft ones from youth, lol.

And know a lot of you are joking about never giving up the full length shorts, but know some of you have to have some above-knee athletic shorts and will give this a try now next time you pee at home, and you'll see what I mean and secretly thank me in spirit, lol. Plus easier to shake/less dribble versus going over the waistband

After almost five years of referrals, imaging, assessments, physio, appointments, I have finally procured an all-clear for hip replacement surgery! Former rugby athlete and horseback rider, here, spent life before 35 overweight but active. Got my weight down, and everything felt better, not that I would be upgrading stock parts before 50.

By use I’m wondering how many people in maybe their mid 30s used the internet heavily pre smartphones, maybe posting on forums actively, early adopters to YouTube, and tech. Like for example, my brother is a year younger than me but didn’t really use the internet before smartphones, however I was very active online since like 6th grade.

I find that both sugar and sweetener taste bitter, not sweet. The way I'm comparing these is the flavor difference I remember between coffee+sugar a while ago and coffee+sugar now. But i also have similar experience with home made tea with sugar now and then

I was a little late to the PS2 club thanks to poverty. lol I got my copy of Kingdom Hearts probably about a year before KH2 came out, and also I was the same age as Sora technically in both games because I was 14 when I got KH and then 15 the next year when I got KH2 for Christmas, so it probably hit different for me in a unique way to be able to relate to the characters that way.

The crazy part was seeing Final Fantasy characters and all our favorite Disney animated movies intermingled into a very weird game with an exceedingly hard to follow plot, but the gameplay loop was good and the exploring was fun. Except in the Tarzan and little mermaid levels where it was decidedly not fun.

I know it didn't explode like Pokemon but I remember KH being one of the biggest most active forums on gametalk.com.

Gen Z here. I don't mean to intrude, so feel free to tell me if this isn't the place. I'm trying to understand the millennial experience better, because from the outside it looks like the generation got sorted very differently depending on when and where you started. A lot of Gen Z talks about a K-shaped economy, where some people keep climbing and others stay stuck. It seems like millennials lived a version of that first.

I, and many of my Gen Z peers, have the impression that some people graduated into the 2008 crash and never really got their careers off the ground, or lost years of earnings and compounding they never made back. Others graduated a few years earlier or later, or got into tech or finance during a boom, and did very well. Among Gen Z there is much resentment for these, as getting into white collar work back then also seems to have been a lot easier than it is now, with the rise of AI, Trumponomics etc.

So I'd love to hear from people on different sides of this, so:

If you graduated or started your career around 2008-2012, what did it actually look like for you? Do you feel like you've caught up, or is it still with you?

If you did well (tech, Silicon Valley, finance, whatever), do you feel like you dodged something? Is there a "we survived 2008, we must be the best" mindset, or is the guilt or awareness more about how lucky the timing was? How much do you think class background mattered, compared to timing? Did family money or a safety net make the difference between riding out 2008 and getting flattened by it? Is there tension inside the generation between the people who "made it" and the people who didn't? Or does it mostly go unspoken? Do you think younger people describe the millennial experience accurately, or are we flattening it too much?

I'm not trying to start a generational fight. I'd just rather hear it from people who lived it than piece it together from Instagram Reels lol. Thank you!!

I just turned 39 on Saturday, and I think I look older. I don't think I look completely old, but I've noticed my skin is more dull and a little bit more saggy. My make-up looks odd on me, and I have to readjust how to put it on. Thankfully, my overall health is okay. I can still exercise. I have a little pain here and there, but I feel okay.

How do you learn to accept aging? I know it seems easy to say.

This phrase was taught to me and my classmates through elementary school. We said it together every single day. I have carried it through my whole life and continue to think about it.

What powerful but simple messages do you guys have to share?

When the student or the class got rowdy, we had to write standards - basically what Bart had to do on the chalkboard. Did you guys have to do this and is it still a thing ?
