Today has been such a weirdly wholesome day.

I was at the courthouse this morning to be a witness for my sister’s marriage. I had a cooler/bag with extra food that I wasn’t going to be able to take with me, and there was a homeless man sleeping outside the courthouse. Rather than throw the food away, I went over and left it for him without waking him up.

As I was walking up with the bag, a courthouse employee looked VERY concerned and asked me,

“That isn’t a bomb, is it?!”

I started laughing and said, “No, of course not; it’s food!”

Fast forward to later today. I’m on my flight and a man asks if I would mind switching seats so he could sit next to his wife. I said yes without really thinking about it, grabbed my stuff, went back to his seat, and sat down.

A few minutes later, he walks all the way back to me and hands me something. I thought it was a piece of paper or something, so I just took it without looking.

Then I realized he had handed me $60!

I immediately went, “No, no, no!” because I genuinely wasn’t expecting anything for switching seats. But he just smiled, insisted, and walked away before I could give it back.

Then the flight attendant sees what happened and goes, “ill take it if you don’t want it”

I texted my mom about it and she said, “That’s the universe giving back to you because you gave your food to that man this morning.”

I don’t know about all that, but between witnessing my sister get married, accidentally alarming a
courthouse employee with a suspicious-looking bag of food, feeding someone who needed it, and then getting randomly handed $60 for switching airplane seats…

Today’s events have certainly made me smile!

1. We all (family) came together to a state we don’t live in
2. My gf sent me a care package (groceries) since I wasn’t feeling well
3. I packed the groceries thinking I could try to consume them before my flight
4. Realized I couldn’t, noticed a homeless person sleeping outside the courthouse and thought they would be perfect to drop the grocery bag to
5. Dropped off the bag, ceremony happened, got dropped off at the airport.

Got this voicemail transcript from him tonight, and we ended up crying on the phone on and off for like half an hour when I called him back. His fiancée said that he was jumping up and down when he saw a letter with my return address. He said it was cause he was happy to not receive spam or a bill 😂😂😂

We were chastised as kids for showing emotions and called weak for crying, so this was a pivotal moment for us.

Saved a monarch from a hailstorm and it made me smile:). I was on my way home from work when I pulled over in an open car wash stall because the hail seemed it could have done some damage. I look out and see this butterfly trying to escape the awful storm. Which then fell to the ground in a puddle. I immediately got out in the storm and picked it up. It stayed on my hand the whole drive home, sometimes slowly flapping its wings stationary. I found a nice place for it be released knowing that beautiful little thing will live another day. But before I did I just sat there to enjoy moment and opportunity, and it seemed like it was looking at me, grateful for being saved

This an old picture I took but one of my favorites. It was taken in 2014. I posted it to my Facebook and captioned it:

“So yesterday morning after I finished feeding the cats, I looked up after putting the dishes in the sink and saw this cat standing outside just sitting there and staring at the window. I went out and as soon as it saw me, it ran up to me and was desperate to get my attention. Meowing, purring, pawing at me, weaving between my legs. When I kneeled down with him, he got as close as he could and he started head-butting and kneading on me almost exactly like Bailey used to do whenever she would greet me. I sat down with him and he sat in my lap until I had to leave. As soon as I walked up the driveway and turned around, he was gone. I know it was Bailey coming back to say goodbye since I wasn't there with her when she passed- it couldn't have been a coincidence. I named the cat Romeo because he was so affectionate. Hopefully I'll get to see him again.”

I remember watching John. John, when I was a kid. I had no idea they brought him back to finish counting.

This truly made me smile

My friend took me here for breakfast before I flew home to Vancouver. Amazing breakfast sandwiches but the dad theme was so cute. I couldn’t resist getting a gum-ball machine dad joke and it did not disappoint.

So I have this routine, where for all of my frequent food restaurants I visit, I will add a message of positive reinforcement on the custom "Special Instructions". I just like for people to feel seen while they are working hard, and you never know what a shift is like.

This time I shared on the "s. Instructions" that I really appreciate their hard work, and asked them to please drive home safe after their shift. There's been a couple of crazy MVA's in our area lately.

That's when the manager came to my curbside, and gave me my order and the free meal.

The satisfaction that I can give a person my appreciation of them for nothing in return, is more than enough for me. But to have it received back on a UNO reverse-card lol, made me smile!
