As someone who can read Simplified/traditional Chinese, this fills me with such a rage. Not only can I already find a mistake in the second line, this feels like a mockery of the memoir itself. Their grandfather has to be rolling in his grave.

Edit: I want to explain my reasoning:
First, I would rather the memoir be translated by person, as for a language like Chinese, a lot of intricacies can be lost unless an actual person who has read a lot of Chinese literature can pick up on. I wouldn’t read a book solely translated by even just Google translate.
Second, even if it was translated by person, it’s still better to read it yourself, right? Your own experiences help to shape how you read and interpret everything you read. “Turning out way better than I imagined” gives me an icky feeling because you literally have no form of comparison other than other ais.
