8 years for me to realise this, wow

Easily an 8.5 for me personally ik people have their gripes but i got this as a birthday gift so cant be mad with free.99 lol but i like the story and what it sets up for the Spideyverse

Just a heads up, this is fully my interpretation and I know not everyone is going to agree:

I get the best friend is jilted anger, but this felt more than friendly. Mystique filled that role. This almost felt like Sabretooth loved Logan like a literal brother. Not in love, so the homophobes can chill (though I can see where people could get that impression too, but sadly ironic that X-Men fans are so bigoted- even mad that Raven isn’t openly bisexual and just has a wife- they never said she wasn’t bi. She just married a woman- same as the comics). I don’t think Victor (save that one good version from a different universe I wish we saw more of) can love. But he is very, very upset that Logan left. It almost is like an ex that got walked out on. He’s so resentful, but once you’re back in action after the first few missions, his happiness that you’re back starts to bleed through even though he’s trying to mask it with brutality. Brett Gipson did an excellent job layering him with his line reads.

But I suppose that’s natural. You would feel more than camaraderie with a brother in arms that is the only person like you in all the world (that they know of). They’re so incredibly similar (power wise), it’s almost insane that they aren’t related. Their difference being (in this game, anyway- certainly not the comics/616 universe), Sabretooth wanted a brother. Logan did not. Lone wolf vs one that always wanted a pack. Same reason Victor stuck with Team X. He genuinely doesn’t want to be alone. And by the state of his room, is actually massively depressed (not just animalistic, as I read it anyway). It’s a really interesting take on Creed to me, who I’ve always thought had more potential if the comics branched out and gave him more depth.

But I’m saying that having not played the other Insomniac games (so far). I’m an X-Men fan, so this one got my attention. I haven’t seen this pattern repeated before. Apparently, they’ve used this same narrative device in other games, according to the comments I’ve read anyway. So wouldn’t know if this felt annoyingly derivative.

I actually really enjoyed this depiction of Victor. He’s not just a sadistic monster, he’s actually really tragic. I felt bad for him. When Essex inevitably revealed everything was a lie, Victor takes anything he can cling to. And the power up makes him more like the Creed we know and hate. It’s like it removes any semblance of humanity he had before. Uber Sabretooth wouldn’t be feeling sorry for Leech. His mind is fully broken now- beyond repair. And all he really wanted was a pack. A family. It’s genuinely sad.

Two achievements away from that sweet sweet platinum.

2 weeks to 100% and Platinum, 'The best there is'. Not a brag. More of a vent.

First playthrough, I collected all the crates and whiskey bottles. Only one of each was kind of challenging to find, the rest easy.

Wolverine gameplay looks great, when you get to finally play.

The story was pretty good, but slow.

All the little side things were dumb. I mean the 'playing records', or anytime you wasted way too much time to do one little action.

I remember some of those in the God of War games, they weren't so boring. They make you feel like the game just came to a complete stop when you had one of these goofy things. Story momentum, gameplay, everything just seemed to screech and you're like 'okay, I got to do this lame ass thing.' With those scenes/activity, and the cutscenes taken out, there'd only be like 3 to 4 hours of gameplay.

After beating it completely through twice, even on the hardest setting, I have no urge to keep playing. Bummed.

Not open, even a bit on most maps.

Scent trail and all that you can turn off, I don't know why people made a big deal about that kind of stuff.

Wolverine close up face, not so good. He's also supposed to be shaped like an upside down 'V', he's too bubbly shaped. And sad.

Voice actor sounds like John Cena.

The saving factor, is when you get into the gameplay and the combos!!! The kills, and use of claws is fun, and exactly what I wanted out of the game.

Costumes are absolutely amazing.

I'd recommend playing as Hellverine. You always have a source of light. The motorcycle scenes look the best. The emotional scenes look hilarious. 7.5/10

This hurts to write this. I'm such a Canucklehead. So much money spent to make this game. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.

I'm about to watch it again while I take a break from playing the new game, watched it about a year ago after not watching it since I was a teenager!

The Best There is mode is so amazing, you are about to die and you regenerate your HP with rage 2

They’re both bloodthirsty sadist but at least Arkady had an actual biological need to drain and kill people while Victor just does it because he likes it.

I really like their dynamic in this game only gotten a little bit into the game. But can already see the romance and I love it.

Usually I'm not a fan because its the whole forbidden love triangle with her Scott and Logan and its just really cringy. But seeing them together without Logan was a great new take.

I am looking forward to see what happens in the future.
