We just called it doubles. If you had one of the right color you could put the same number down of another color and change the color of the stack.

Nah, just doubles. Im sure other tables have their own rules and played that way lol. That game was lawless and depended on where you were from to "know" the rules.

In our games we called it stacking and you could put down as many of the same card as you had as long as the first one matched the color. Including skips and draws.

We do that but it has to be the same number AND color (we play with multiple decks). Also, you cannot do doubles for Draw 4s.

As in, one person can't play two draw 4s in the same turn.
Don't get me started on draw 4s lol, we have like 7.5 rules specifically about draw 4s.
Honor rule to only play if you cannot play anything else, EXCEPT when you're stacking on top of a draw 4 that you recieved, but in every case, max draw is 4 cards (otherwise games go forever with our other rules in consideration).
Also they get disabled if we need to reshuffle the deck once, and turn into regular wild cards if we need to reshuffle the deck twice.

We play like no one is winning, the only deal is the big loser at the end. And have a rule like if anyone is out, but someone places down a number 1, everyone has to tap their forhead, the Last tapper should Pick up 2, even if he already out of cards. So you have to watch and listen, until the match have only one big loser.

The problem with those house rules is that it makes an already pretty basic game with little to no player agency into a worse one. The number of meaningful decisions you make in uno is already staggeringly small and those house rules only bring that number down.
It does make for these hype moments that just completely obliterate a single person though lol

House rules can break games pretty badly too. Monopoly is notorious for dragging on, but it only does because of house rules. Played strictly by the book, Monopoly should only last at most 30-45 minutes.

I would say it's either not using the auction rule for property people land on and don't want to purchase or using some kind of loan system from the bank to prevent players getting eliminated early.

Yup, these 2 house rules were so ingrained that I didn't realise what the actual rules were until my 30s. Still don't love the game, but I finished a game of Monopoly for the first time in decades not long ago.

Not knowing that you need to auction off properties if they arent purchased when landed on and the no parking lottery where all taxes and payments to the bank go into a lottery won by landing on the free parking space.
Players end up with more money for way longer than intended.

Whenever I play Uno, I use “House Rules” -
I remove the cards that annoy me from the deck: “Draw Two (+2)”, “WILD” card, and
“WILD (+4)”!!! 🃏😤
