I recently swapped my rog ally z1 exteme over to steamOS, but spiderman remastered is running with frequent frame drops. Changed display resolution in game to 720p and running everything on medium settings. Not sure what else to do. Any help is appreciated.

I have an older laptop (Intel i7 8750H, GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 16GB RAM) and was wondering if SteamOS would work on it. I only intend to use this laptop for Steam games. Does anyone have experience running SteamOS on a 8'ish year old laptop?

I found a post saying that Bazzite (https://bazzite.gg/) might be a good choice.

Hey I am very inexperienced with all of this. I brought the steam machine as a long overdue upgrade to my old disheveled pc.

Recently with all the WOW hype I decided to jump back in. Downloading battle net was easy with a guide.

Had it all working till yesterday (Bout a week and a bit) had both wow forever and retail collapse on me.

Everytime I log in i go from 100+ frames down to a unplayable 1-5 then rocket back up and crash back down. Barely even last a minute. This is a issue on both versions of the game and appears to be an issue on battle net itself although harder to tell.

I tried changing the proton compatibility I even factory restarted my steam machine as a quick test.

From doing some readings my basic understanding has me theorising it could be an issue with proton logs. But I don’t know and would love help trying to troubleshoot and fix this issues. Please i spent too much money on this game to let it slide and I know it’s more than just one specific game.

CarveLight is a turn based multiplayer artillery game (Worms-like). Unlike Worms, it focuses on throwing enemies out of bounds, there are no health bars. Destroy the terrain and push enemies off the map in this physics driven game.

We built the game with linux in mind from day one, and it works on Steam Deck and Arch. We would greatly appreciate if you fine SteamOS gamers could help us out with additional testing on non Steam hardware, especially Intel Arc.

Is there anyone has tried to do development on this OS?

Hey everyone, v1.2 is out and it's a big one.

Frame gen actually runs on ARM now The Lossless Scaling plugin only comes with x86 builds, so I added an ARM64 build of LSFG 2.0 that runs straight on the GPU. ARM64 games get frame gen too now, not just x86 games through FEX. The plugin comes preinstalled, so you just pick a game and turn it on.

It's not just the Pocket FIT anymore The Ayaneo Pocket S2 and S2 Pro have the same chip, so v1.2 has initial support for them too. I don't have one myself, so if you do, I'd love to hear how it goes. More Devices to be supported as well based on testers.

You can put it on internal storage There's a new installer app in Desktop Mode: pick how much space Android keeps and it does the rest. Default android os stays, and you choose which one to boot. It's a lot snappier than running from the SD card.

And this should be the last time you reflash There's a new update app, so future versions install over what you have and keep your games, saves and accounts.

Other stuff that got fixed:

• the right stick moving the triggers

• Proper implementation of back buttons

• the fan jumping between your speed and 100%

• Louder audio

• Desktop Mode taking forever to open

• the controller service eating a CPU core in the background, making ui laggy

The Steam UI runs at 144Hz now too.

Lately I noticed that some icons (eg volume, bluetooth etc) on my taskbar are missing, when my cursor hovers over them, they still show the stats from the icons.

I haven't done anything that caused them to disappear, but every time I go on to desktop mode, they aren't there. It's been bugging me for a while, does anyone have a solution?

Another minor issue (but I can live with that) is after installing Emudeck (which works fine), I cannot find the Emudeck app anywhere in the steam deck (I searched for it), now I am resort to clicking the installer (as you can see on the desktop) to open the Emudeck app every time. Even if I try to pin it in the taskbar, it's gone after I go back to Gaming mode. Does anyone know the solution for this too?

How can I flip the screen in game mode on my SteamDeck?

In desktop mode it's easy to go into the monitor settings and flip the screen, but it doesn't affect game mode. Does anyone know if it can be done?

Since I know someone will ask why, I planning out how to put the SteamDeck components into a new shell, and it might be better for me if the SD card slot was on the top.

After hearing Steam Frame uses sm8650 which is the same SoC as this Xiaomi 14, I have the thought of porting armada to it.

Now it boots, some important features work like wifi and GPU acceleration works, the screen currently has a pink tint and other features won't work.

It still makes it way to launch Dave the diver!

I don't have a USB-C dongle nearby to test it's in game performance, but I think it should work pretty well since it's a light game.

Also I think there's probably going to be more port of Armada to different devices since valve allowed it and agentic ai really speeds up the process (remember don't post slop PR to the armada though)

I have steamos on my legion go. I have Skyrim through GOG. I cannot seem to find anything helpful towards getting things like alternate start and the unofficial skyrim patch working with this config.

Anyone know if this can be done?

I’m at a loss. I had at least 3 hours smooth play through yesterday. Saved the game and made dinner, went to play after and after the loading screen or if I press enter, steam crashes, Microsoft edge pops up, and my program files as well as a loading que for updating steam.

Ive updated drivers currently using HP victus Ryzen 7 nvidia all drivers have been updated that I know of.

Any ideas?

Hi everyone, I have an old desktop and I'm currently trying to price and navigate building and small form factor pc that I can hide behind my TV with steam os on exclusively

The steam machine is too weak for me so that's why I'm going down this route in the meantime I'm wondering if I it's possible to create a partition on my desktop pc , But not on my c drive , one of my other ssds, and install and boot steam os from it ?

I'm not very familiar with PCs so if this is a stupid question I apologize, basically if like to create a 500gb partition on my d drive and install steam os ?

Next question is obviously the prices are insane at the minute so I'm looking to buy a pre built PC minus the GPU and use my 2080ti, are there any small form factor cases that can fit my card? I'd like to get as small as possible and basically consolize a pc for steam os
