I'm not sure if this has come up in all the recent LG spyware/privacy discussion, but I figured I'd share my experience.

I recently created an isolated WiFi network in UniFi specifically for my LG TV, to keep it separated from the rest of my devices. I connected the TV to the new network and everything worked fine.

The next day, I noticed the TV had automatically reconnected to my old WiFi network.

So I went into the LG network settings, told it to forget the old network, and connected it back to the isolated "LG jail" network.

The following morning, the old network had somehow reappeared in its saved networks, and the TV had connected to it again.

At that point, I changed the password on my old WiFi network so the TV could no longer connect to it. That worked and forced the TV onto the isolated network.

Then I tried something else: I manually added the old WiFi network on the TV but intentionally entered the wrong password, hoping that would overwrite whatever credentials the TV had previously saved.

Afterward, I changed my main WiFi password back to its original password, since several other devices depend on it.

The next day, the LG TV had connected to the old network again.

So unless I'm missing something, once this TV has successfully connected to a WiFi network, it appears to retain those credentials somewhere even after you:

• Tell it to forget the network
• Reconnect it to another preferred network
• Attempt to overwrite the saved credentials with an incorrect password

It still eventually goes back and tries credentials that worked in the past.

Maybe there's an innocent explanation for this, but it's pretty concerning behavior for a device that already has a reputation for aggressive data collection.

Bug, undocumented credential retention, or an intentional "feature" LG would rather not discuss? I know my vote...

(in the end I blocked the LG TV's MAC address on my main WiFi network)

My 65” cx almost 6 years old is dying.

Delaminating of the screen.

Deployed Glasshouse to my C1 this weekend. This thing is insane, ​full remote control, OLED panel wear stats, Privacy tab that actually shows and kills every LG data agreement, app hider/uninstaller, custom screensavers​. Runs as a local server on the TV itself.

The glass now feels like mine again. No more sponsored tiles, no more random “recommendations”, no more mystery background processes talking to LG servers. Just a beautiful OLED that does what it does best.

Using an Apple TV.
Watching a few “YouTube experts” and they all say the Filmmaker mode is the most Accurate.
When I watch Streaming shows from Netflix, Disney, AppleTV etc and streaming movies in Dolby Vision, it’s very dark to the point it’s painful to watch for me (old eyes don’t see well in the dark anymore). Is there a way to bring up the level of brightness in Filmmaker? I switched to the Home Cinema mode and that is better.

First time owning an LG and still learning.

Anyone else having issues with 43.21.77?
Latest update on C5 seems to break the TV.
It randomly turns off, has trouble turning on.
Even app updates keep failing, but requires app updates, so this update turned the TV into an expensive piece of glass.
And it worked perfectly before the update pop-up showed up.

I have the opportunity to enter the league of OLED TVs and OLED gaming and have been planning to get an LG C Series tv, C2 and newer. I’ve seen a used C2 48in and have been offered a newer C5 48in that has been used for 100 hours.

The prices for C4-C5 secondhand in New Zealand would be around 900-1.5k. I’ve seen good condition near new in box C4s go for at least 1.2k. For reference, a new LG C6 is 2.6k NZD minimum and even wirh deals it wouldn’t be much less and I don’t got that kind of money.

There’s not as many OLED TVs being sold secondhand here so it’s rare to even be offered it, and I’ve already missed out on two C2s the same price as this current one. Good oled tvs get bought quick within a day.

The person offered the C5 to me for 1.3k NZD but could probably negotiate down. The C2 is currently being sold for $650 but I think I could negotiate it down.

Mainly will be using the TV for gaming, movies and shows, and general use.

Both are in good functioning condition and will be getting the exact details of them soon, but the C5 is nearly double and in my case, I can only afford the C5 if I can arrange the money and wait awhile, but no guarantees, whereas the C2 is much more in reach.

Obviously will be considering the condition, hours, pixels, and any burn in of the C2, but is the near new C5 really enough of a jump in terms of quality and overall experience that I should wait and pay nearly double? Also keeping in mind this would be my first OLED device/TV.

If I had the money I’d take the C5 regardless but I’m a young dude on a budget so I’m trying to figure out what to do. Really need any insight or opinions, thanks everyone!!

I recently bought a 77in C5 for my main apt living room and the picture is amazing. It was my first OLED TV.

I moved my older 55in LG LED 4K tv to my bedroom but by the end of the year I’ll want to upgrade it.

My question is this: go for the 65in C5 for $1.35K or the 65in C6 for $1.7K?

The bedroom TV isn’t my main TV viewing location so don’t need all the bells and whistles.

I just got my G5 and I am watching a 4K blu ray via PS5 and I notice a straight line down that has different display, can it be a setting thing or is this indeed the case of replace tv? Should be visible on the picture. It’s close to the person to the left and also further on the left.

Edit: The TV had no internet yet, no update was done. Possible fix via update?

I bought a new OLED TV, and unfortunately, when I updated to version 43.21.73, I experienced too many problems, including audio glitches, crashes when running the YouTube app, and the screen freezing to black, among other issues. Now that firmware version 43.21.77 is out, some bugs have been fixed, but there’s one that really bothers me: when you turn on the TV and are on the Home screen, the Xbox icon—which is set to the port—disappears, leaving only the green background. The only workaround is to go to the input list, switch to another icon, and then it disappears. I think it’s a metadata error that occurs specifically when you turn on the TV and have Quick Start disabled. Do you know when they’ll release a new version to fix this? Are any other users experiencing this problem? Best regards

I’ve got an LG OLED 2021 and every time I switch it on, this happens (watch the video). Does Anyone know why? I contacted LG support and they told me to do some basic Troubleshooting but didn’t work 😭

This is the TV in the off position. It has this weird oil slick that kind of appeared out of nowhere. I don’t have any small kids, and I don’t have any pets that could do this. Does anybody have any insight? To be honest LG is being pretty uncool. They’re saying I have to pay to get it assessed. Hello folks. I’ve been incredibly happy with my LG C3 55 for a couple of years now. I followed the RTINGS best picture guide when I bought it, and it’s been amazing the entire time. At the weekend I was having audio issues and in my frustration reset the TV and now everything looks like it’s on TruMotion regardless of the picture mode/setting. I always use Expert (Dark Space), and even with this on and TruMotion off everything has that too-smooth effect. The Pitt in particular looks utterly awful. FAR too bright.

I stream everything through the Shield Pro and occasionally watch some live TV through the Virgin media set top box. I don’t use any TV apps. I have 8k HDMIs on all connections to the Yamaha receiver, with just the ARC connection to process the sound. It is not connected to the 'net but I did update the software to the latest WebOS.

I’ve attached a basic diagram of the set up; I also tried everything going through the Receiver but same issues. I reset the TV again this morning to make sure I hadn’t accidentally turned on any AI processing things but no joy.

Any ideas?!

I noticed that the LG G5 is available for around €1050 and already includes a 5-year warranty on the panel.

The LG C5 costs me about €800, but if I want a 5-year warranty as well, I would have to pay roughly €160 extra for the extended warranty, bringing the total to around €960.

At this point, I’m wondering whether it makes more sense to just buy the more expensive G5, avoid paying separately for an extended warranty, and also end up with what is generally considered the better TV.

Does this reasoning make sense to you? Am I missing something? 🤔

I just got a brand new 77” LG C6H and the TV probably has under 8 hours of total use so far.

The first two movies I watched were Dune and Dune: Part Two, and I noticed some vertical banding in darker scenes and slow pans. At first I thought I was just looking too closely, but I could actually see it during normal viewing, not only on test patterns.

I then ran a 5% gray uniformity test and the vertical bands are definitely visible. I also tried a brown/uniform color test and the panel looks somewhat uneven, especially near the bottom, with some color/tint variation.

I’ll attach photos of both tests.

Since the TV is basically brand new and has only gone through a couple of hours of use, do you think this is normal for a new OLED and likely to improve after more usage/automatic compensation cycles?

I’ve read that people recommend giving a new OLED around 30–50 hours before judging panel uniformity, but since I can already notice the banding in actual movies like Dune, I’m wondering whether I should wait or consider exchanging it while I’m still in the return period.

Would you consider this normal panel variation for a new OLED, or would you exchange it?

I recently bought the LG G6 65” TV, and I’m really impressed with it. It’s an amazing TV overall, and the bright screen looks absolutely fantastic.
I mainly use it with my PS5 Pro for gaming. I’ve seen people recommending setting the white balance to 40 in the picture settings. Is that actually the correct setting to use for PS5 Pro gaming?

My LG C5 OLED had an update this morning. I updated the TV. I kept the TV on and I played my PS5 Pro through HDMI 2 port, and it worked perfectly fine this morning for hours. I turn the TV off to go eat breakfast.

Come back to play again and the TV just went black. The PS5 Pro worked fine. However HDMI port #2 didnt work. Which is the Earc/arc port. So I took the HDMI cable out of port #2 and plugged it into HDMI 1 and then HDMI 3 (both of these are not earc/arc) and the PS5 Pro came on the TV.

I even did this same test with my Steam Deck OLED + dock. It worked just fine on the HDMI 1+3 ports but for some reason when I try HDMI 2 Earc port, it wont work at all. The screen is just blank. If I press the scroll wheel on the remote I can see the little cursor however nothing else comes up.

Why are my consoles not working with HMDI #2 port now? What did this update do to the earc/arc port? Does anyone know?

My tv forced updated by itself and I want to access the hidden menu where you can turn off signal power and logo exit and shit.

It used to be 3 times clicking on the cog button and it would pop.

Now when I try that I hear the menu sound but nothing pops.

Did they changed the shortcut?

So i didn't wanted update this because I saw the reviews here in reddit. Whoever did the webos26 update are smashing there head right now because it's very laggy and slow. I didn't updated my c5 to this for months I wanted and I actually skipped this but the lg technician visited for regular service and he saw the software version and he just updated to webos26 I told him not to but he told some shitty things and proceeds to update it. Now the C5 feels like my old LG uhd led tv🥲.If anyone knows how to fix this or any idea on this please reply
